A Motif is any detail repeated so as to create a theme or a pattern. The detail could be something very subtle or something very intricate, as is the density of the repetition of the motif.
So I came across this motif repeat cardigan by Mr.Button and it was so simple and yet I just needed to have it so I picked it up. What I loved most about it was the little puppy print that’s a little quirky and fun, and the color and structure is so appropriate, that’s what makes this piece so versatile.
You could wear this with something super casual may be like a solid colored tshirt with blue or black jogger’s and a pair of plimsoll shoes, or something that you could wear to work with a shirt and a sharp pair of trousers and penny loafers. Or something in between casual and sharp the way I have in the outfit I have put together.
So I went with a plain white formal shirt, a pair or lovely blue corduroy pants, and a pair of zip up sneakers to make it a lil easy, literally! And a mandatory pair of aviators. You could carry your leather bag with it, a sling or a holdall or a duffle, and I’d you wanna make it look more on the casual side, I’d say don’t hesitate carrying even a good gym bag!
Motifs are really in, and are a must haves. But showcase the detail and play down a little on the other elements of the look and you’ll get it right!
